If a researcher is trying to find information about operating systems, they may first try entering Operating Systems into the search box. 338 results are returned. While some are appropriate for research on operating systems, others are extraneous including fellowships in supercomputing, job listings, and data analysis information. 

To refine the search to only include information acceptable for research purposes, click on Show Advanced Filter Options and under Audience select Researcher. Now all of the results are approriate for research.

To refine the search even further, click on Computer Systems Organization, then Software, next Software Categories and finally Operating Systems.

Now there are only 8 search results all perfectly tailored to research on operating systems.
